As I was a mom with one child on me and others in the cradle, I worked 12 hours a day sanding flooring and tearing off wallpaper. Ha! The home was starting to look good, but there was a lot that needed to be left. It would take lots of time and money and shopping my favorite interiors to decorate this place. In order to stay in my budget I took my kids along with me as I searched for hidden treasures at estate sales. We used to go on a weekly basis to visit garage sales and auctions on the weekend as well as purchase various of furniture, both new and old constructed. It was my job to spend the day at the end of the driveway, working on painting or sanding. It was a bit like this... That's where my passion for restoration of furniture started. After our home was finished, I didn't want to put it down! There was a spot in the market in which I sold my items. Then, my collection got so large that the room I had available was no longer adequate. There were open houses at my house where over 1 000 people would come through in a single weekend and could buy anything they saw on the first floor. This is where my business Growing Days was born. Not only was my business expanding, but so was my sweet family too. In a way, I had found the perfect equilibrium between motherhood as well as starting my own company. Growing Days was the obvious option. Nora joined us in 2013 to be our fourth baby. It was a great direction for my company, however, I needed an escape. I took some time away from vintage furniture to spend some quality time with my family. That was precisely the thing I needed. Within a couple of months, the phone began to begin to. They were asking for my assistance in decorating as well as renovations. A majority of these were those who had walked through my property during open house for furniture! It didn't seem long until I had a fully-fledged home renovation company. The first step was to take clients in a manner that I was at ease with. If you had told me that my business would be an idea for the DIY Network show, I would probably have been astonished. It's true that I amused when I think of the idea.
